Garden Centre Retail Assistant

As we approach the spring we are looking for enthusiastic and motivated people to join our friendly team at Goldcliff Garden Centre on a part-time basis for all or either of the following days; Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. As many of our loyal customers know we are open every day except over Christmas and New Year so you will be required to work during the summer holidays and on bank holidays.

Roles & Responsibilities 

• To assist with all customer needs & enquiries in a polite, efficient manner and operating the tills.

• Maintenance of the plant area such as weeding, pruning watering & potting.

• Processing, pricing and presenting stock.

• Maintenance of the shelves such as cleaning and keeping the shop tidy.

• The role will involve an element of heavy lifting, as you will be required to assist customers with loading heavy or bulky items into their car such as compost, large plants and pots.

Candidate Qualities 

• A large part of the role is assisting customers so good communication skills are essential.

• You will be expected to work in all weather conditions.

• To be energetic and enthusiastic, have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and be confident in assisting and advising customers.

• An ability to prioritise workload and work both independently on your initiative and as part of a team.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment during peak seasons.

• Horticultural knowledge is a bonus, but not essential - training will be provided but a genuine passion for all things plant-related is a must!
