A Guide for the best results for your new lawn

1. Preparation is Key:

• Clear the Area:

  Remove any existing grass, weeds, rocks, and debris from the area where you plan to lay the turf. 

• Level the Soil:

  Ensure the soil is level and smooth, as any unevenness will be noticeable after the turf is laid. 

• Firm the Soil:

  After levelling, firm the soil to create a stable base for the turf. 

• Fertilize:

  Apply a good general fertilizer to the top layer of soil before laying the turf. 

• Water:

  Water the soil thoroughly to ensure it's moist but not soggy before laying the turf. 

2. Laying the Turf:

• Start at a Straight Edge:

  Begin laying the turf strips along a straight edge.

• Unroll and Butt:

  Unroll the turf strips, laying them end-to-end in a row, ensuring they butt closely together. 

• Lay Across Slopes:

  When laying turf on a slope, unroll the turf strips across the slope, not down it. 

• Firm Down:

  Lightly firm down the turf with the head of a rake or piece of wood to ensure good contact between the underside of the turf and the soil. 

• Stagger Joints:

  Lay the turf in a brick-work pattern, so that the joints of the rolls are staggered. 

3. Finishing Touches:

• Water Immediately:

  After laying the turf, water the entire area thoroughly to settle the turf and promote root growth.

• Keep Moist:

  Maintain the soil moisture for the first few weeks to help the turf establish its roots.
